Meidi Medical Launches Double-Layer Crepe Absorbent Paper: One Wipe, Dry Every Time
Meidi Medical has added a new product to its absorbent paper line. The Double-Layer Crepe Absorbent Paper is built for the places where a bad wipe costs more than time. Labs, surgical prep, instrument drying, liquid spills — anywhere a surface needs to be dry and nothing can be left behind.
Most absorbent paper has a tradeoff. The stuff that soaks up fast falls apart when it gets wet. The stuff that holds its shape doesn't absorb much. You end up wiping twice. Or three times. Or peeling bits of paper off the surface you just cleaned.
This product solves that by doing both things at once.
How it works
Two layers. The top is 100% virgin wood pulp with a crepe texture. The crinkles aren't cosmetic. They form capillary channels — tiny pathways that pull liquid in and spread it across the sheet. The bottom is a polyester nonwoven substrate. It doesn't absorb. It holds the structure together.
Hot-melt adhesive dots bond the layers at precise intervals. The wood pulp layer soaks up liquid fast. The nonwoven layer keeps the sheet intact. Wet, it stays in one piece. Rub it back and forth. Still one piece.
The numbers.
Absorbency speed: about 40% faster than single-layer paper. A single sheet holds 4.5 times its own weight in liquid. Wet tensile strength: 8.0 N/m in the cross direction. Lint shedding: 0.5% or less. Bacterial count: under 5 CFU/g in production testing.
ISO 9001 certified. FSC certified on the virgin pulp.
Where it fits
Meidi already makes absorbent paper for healthcare — the four-ply grid-reinforced variant used in operating rooms and ICUs. The crepe paper is a different tool for a different set of problems.
Lab benches. After an experiment, you need the surface dry and clean. No fibers. No residue. One pass.
Surgical instruments. After sterilization, instruments sit in trays. A lint-heavy wipe leaves particles in the channels. This one doesn't.
Liquid spills. Blood, saline, reagent. A standard paper towel soaks through before the spill is contained. This sheet holds the liquid where it lands.
Localized moisture. Under a catheter hub. Around a drainage site. A small square of this paper keeps skin dry without the bulk of a full dressing.
